Audio: Reaction to LFC's defeat in Madrid
LIVERPOOL’S defeat in Madrid last night wasn’t the end of the world and the club still have it in their hands to make it into the knockout stages. Before the game news leaked (via the Spanish press initially) that Rodgers would be making several changes to his team. This came after he said in his media conference that the Champions League came after the Premier League in his priorities.
After the game Rodgers explained his decision:
Reaction has been mixed, to say the least, but what is interesting is just how strongly held the views of each side now are. And it is certainly ‘sides’, with accusations flying everywhere about why exactly someone on one ‘side’ has a different view to someone on theirs.
Former Reds defender Steve Nicol wasn’t happy:
Whichever ‘side’ you are on, if you are Liverpool fan, it’s safe to say that you’d love nothing more than to see Liverpool put Jose Mourinho back in his place on Saturday before starting a run of games that ends in glory next season. It’s a great dream, but is that all it can be at this stage? Is that good enough after spending £120m in the summer. Does the sale of Suarez and the injury to Sturridge excuse Liverpool’s failings so far?
